Bowden's 'Last Girl Standing' suffered their first defeat, against Thrapston at Burton Latimer. Undefeated Thrapston batted first with a good opening partnership between Natalie Halliday and Erica Turner. Turner retiring on 50 not out in the tenth over. There was some good bowling from Collette Wale, Emily Wilford and Sian Pyne early on, but Thrapston kept the run rate up before Emily bowled Halliday. Emma Wardrop then took two wickets in the following over, to finish with figures of three overs, 2 for 11 including a very good catch by Katie Tweddle. Collette took a wicket in the final over but couldn’t prevent Thrapston reaching 122 off their 20 overs.
Bowden started steadily but lost two wickets in the fifth and sixth over. A ‘double play’ with Flora being caught and Sian being run out off the same ball (you have to go back to the end you’ve run from) in the eighth over meant that momentum went from the innings and despite a top scoring 32 not out from Emily, Bowden were left on 67 for six.
