Colman the hero

03 Jul 2019

Bowden u13xi beat Kettering in a thrilling match by 3 wickets with one ball to spare.

Kettering batted first on a difficult surface and steady batting saw them reach 96-5 off their 20 overs, wickets for Will Colman (2), Finn Colman, Theo Mercer and George Williams. Williams also took an excellent catch despite a finger injury, with a sharp stumping for keeper Freddie Wilson too.

In reply Bowden made good progress, but kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Only Jack Gray stood firm with 30, but had to retire with 11 still needed off the last 2 overs. Will Colman and Matt Roberts scrambled 7 off the penultimate over, leaving 4 to win off the last over. Two singles were taken leaving it to Will Colman to cap a fine match for him by slapping the penultimate ball of the game down the ground to the boundary.
