Fortunes Change As Bowden End Streak

15 May 2016

After two defeats, Bowden’s first team looked to put their season back on track against hosts Geddington Seconds.

Having lost the toss and put into bat, Bowden made a decent start. Openers Anthony Paton (22)  and Karl Pollard (16) looked comfortable, until both were judged out LBW by the umpires.

Inform batsmen Dan Masic (46) and Dan Broughton (47*) made use of the batsman friendly conditions, providing the foundation for the Bowden innings, aided by Sam Gomez (27).

Bowden making 217 for 6 from the 50 over allocation.

After the interval, Bowden restricted Geddington in the early overs.

The home side began to increase with confidence as their innings advanced. At one point were 135 for 3 and looking to be on track to chase the Bowden total down.

An excellent second spell from Joe Whitworth (5-50) changed the game and pushed the balance in favour of Bowden.  Dan Masic (2-35) chipped in with a couple of wickets to further the Bowden cause.

A resilient Marcus Knight (31) gave Geddington a glimmer of hope of victory. Until, in the 49th he was out, to an outstanding caught and bowled by Tony Roberts (2-26).

Bowden winning by 17 runs.
