Bowden's first team entertained St Crispins and Ryelands II at the Recreation Ground.
Having lost the toss, Bowden were suprised to bat first on what seemed to be ideal batting conditions.
A solid foundation was laid by openers Anthony Paton (56) and Charlie Standley (37). And despite a Bowden middle order wobble. In form batsman Alex Frith (56 not out) and Steve Bellamy (22 not out) guided Bowden to 216 for 7 from 50 overs.
After the tea interval Bowden started well, but struggled to really threaten to take wickets. Relying on two sharp run outs from Wepener Groenewald and Anthony Paton. But the bowlers toiled on a wicket that offered little in their favour. This enabled St Crispins to build partnerships and they looked to make the game close. Needing 10 from the final over they fell 4 runs short of victory on 213 for 7. Joe Whitworth the pick of the bowlers (2-37).
