Bowden's first team travelled to high flying West Haddon and Guilsborough, looking to close the gap on the promotion places.
Having won the toss and electing to field Bowden looked to chase down the West Haddon score.
A promising start from Sam Keenan and Joe Whitworth kept the hosts down to 65 for 4, including the wicket of the in form overseas R Smith. But a 117 run, sixth wicket partnership gave West Haddon the upper hand. Bowden didn't help themselves by dropping J Nuttall on three occasions. He went on to exploit Bowden's generosity by smashing 139. West Haddon made 253 from 48.2 overs. Joe Whitworth taking 5 wickets for 45 runs bowling a brilliant spell of 15 consecutive overs.
Bowden didn't start their innings as planned. Losing two wickets in the first over for one run. Dan Masic (51) and Anthony Paton (25) steadied the Bowden run chase with a 84 run Third wicket partnership. A clean hitting display from Alex Frith (52) gave Bowden hope of chasing the West Haddon total.
As wickets continued to tumble the odds were stacked against Bowden. A final wicket defensive stand, between Sam Keenan and Wepener Groenewald, made sure Bowden held on for the losing draw. Finishing on 203 for 9 from 51 overs.
Bowden entertain league leaders Raunds at home on Saturday.
