Mid table rivals Wellingborough Old Grammarians were the guests against Bowden's first team on Saturday.
Old Grammarians won the toss and elected to bat. Bowden took to the field knowing that batting first was the preferred option.
The batsman friendly pitch, sunny overhead conditions and a lightning fast outfield suited batting.
But a disciplined Bowden fielding effort made scoring runs difficult for Old Grammarians. On a wicket where 230 looked to be a par score, OG's managed 194 for 9 after 50 overs. Sam Keenan (3-46) and the returning Wepener Groenewald (2-39) the pick of the bowlers. Although Joe Whitworth was the bowler who caused the most problems for OG's. He deserved better than his figures of (2-53) suggest.
After the tea break, Anthony Paton hit a quick fire 29. But Karl Pollard (51) and Charlie Standley (73) hitting boundaries at regular intervals, provided the majority of the Bowden runs. Despite a middle order wobble, Bowden chased the target of 195 in the 41st over.
Bowden travel to Weldon in search of victory to remain in touching distance of the promotion places this coming weekend.
