2014 Season – U11’s

For the first time, Bowden CC entered a team in the Corby & District Junior League – within the u11 section.  In their inaugural season the squad of around 18 players competed very well which the boys and girls can be proud of.  In the league the team finished 4th but some way ahead of 5th and very close to the top three.  Including cup matches and a friendly, the team won 8 out of the 13 matches they played.

A number of players shone with the bat with Finn Carnduff, who won the season’s batting award, top scoring with 100 runs, closely followed by Sam Stephenson (77), Sam Haynes-Coote (69) and Olly Rodgers (47).  On the bowling front, Callum Leat took 9 wickets at an average of 9.5; Tom Iliffe – 7 wickets at 9.3 and Sam Haynes-Coote – 7 wickets at 4.1 who won the bowling award.  All of the players shone in the field with Olly Rodgers (who won the fielding award) and Elliot Mitchell having confident spells at being wicket keeper.  All of the players improved throughout the season, in particular Luke Ainsworth, Seb Smith, George Linsell Gregor Montgomerie, Joe Pearson, Dominic Powell and Joe Tremlett (who won the most improved award).

A special mention should be made of Finn Carnduff who represented Leicestershire at the U10 age group with Harry Wilford being part of the County Development Squad at the same age level.

Many thanks to all parents who supported throughout the season with us all now looking forward to the 2015 season!

2014 Season – Kwik Cricket

Bowden CC welcomed many new faces (as well as old) at their Kwik Cricket sessions on Friday evenings throughout the season.  Often there were in excess of 40 boys and girls at some of these.  During the year we also played in 5 Kwik Cricket match evenings with over 25 players experiencing these on at least one occasion.  At the end of season presentation ceremony the following awards were made:-

Kwik Cricket Newcomer of the Year – Charlie Barkworth; Batsman of the Season – Freddy Verbruggen; Bowler of the Season – Oliver Howland; Fielder of the Year – Vashin Kaushik; Most Improved Player – Louis Bodfield.

Next season we expect some of the players will progress to playing either hardball or incrediball cricket introducing the players to wearing more kit including pads, gloves and helmets!  More coaches are needed therefore to support both the Kwik Cricket age group as well as the possibility of introducing an incrediball or further U11 hardball team.

Finally many thanks to all parents who have supported the Club throughout the season.
