Sunday XI Suffer Defeat at Holkham

13 Sep 2010

Bowden's Sunday XI enjoyed their annual trip to play on the Holkham Estate, in Norfolk, on Sunday.
In the shadow of the impressive Holkham Hall, Bowden were put into bat and were soon struggling on 28 for 3, with opener Andy Gordon being unluckily run out when backing up. But Gary Waterfield steadied the ship with a patient 35 and support from Rob Gomez (20) and Lee Wilson (23) enabled them to reach a reasonable 144 all out total.
The home side may a slow start to their reply but opener Will Bale found his feet to hit a solid 55, before being dismissed by a running boundary catch by Ian White. Gordon Robinson toiled away to take 2 for 31, but the Bowden attack were unable to to control the free hitting Sewell, who finished on 33 not out, as Holkham passed Bowden's total for the lose of five wickets.
