Run outs cost u13 pairs

On a stunning evening at Bowden Park, Kettering won the toss and elected to bat. Their scoring was restrained by some economical opening bowling from sibling rivals OJ and Ruby Lawrence, both returning figures of 10 for 1 from 3 overs. Supported well by Teagan Beaufoy with figures of 9 for 2 from 2 Kettering struggled until the final 3 overs when their score doubling to finish on 250 for 6.

As the shadows lengthened Bowden’s response was immediate and full of purpose with the opening ball of the innings being dispatched over the bowlers head for 4 by Beaufoy (12). After the first pair Bowden looked comfortable at 221 for 2 however a number of calamitous run outs in the middle overs reduced the scoring rate. Contributions from Cary Pyne (7) and Luke Armstrong (13) meant 14 runs were required from the last pairing. Kettering however turned to their senior and more experience players who controlled the match and reduced the chase to 231. 

In conclusion a game that ebbed and flowed throughout, the difference being the final three overs as Kettering won by 19 runs.
