Bowden Pinks crowned Champions!

15 Aug 2018

Bowden Pinks secured a great win in the final of the Northants Last Woman Stands against

Irthingborough Ladies.  Fielding first, Pinks struck early when captain Flora England ran out her opposing captain for nought with a direct throw from square leg.  Irthingborough then fought back with a good stand for the second wicket until Emma Wardrop struck bowling their number three.  Another crucial run out followed, when a hard boundary throw from Kirsty Matthews into keeper Emily Wilford’s gloves resulted in Irthingborough’s other opener departing for 26.  Collette Wale took the other wicket with Elizabeth Page and Ema Garcia also bowling economically to restrict Irthingborough to 100-4 from their 20 overs.

In reply Pinks started steadily against some tight bowling but then really powered through the middle overs reaching their target in the 13th over.  Sian Pyne (40) and Wale (41 not out) both played some great boundary shots during a match winning stand with captain England also finishing on 16 not out.
