1sts Still On Track For Promotion

03 Sep 2017

Bowdens first team continued their push for promotion with a 5 wicket victory over Raunds.

Having lost the toss, Bowden took to the field and immediately put the pressure on the batsman.  Early on the pitch provided bounce which aided Dan Broughton (1-35) and Chris Weir (1-33) who regularly beat the outside edge. Tony Roberts (4-33) using his vast repertoire of delivers to out fox the Raunds batsman.  Sam Freer (3-44) chipped in to restrict Raunds to 165 all out in 47 overs.

The Bowden reply started brightly with 18 runs from the first two overs. This encouraged Raunds to adopt a different strategy forcing Bowden  to earn their runs.

Contributions from Charlie Standley (29), Sam Gomez (28)  Karl Pollard (26) and Alex Frith (24). Once again Dan Broughton (39*) anchored the innings in Bowdens favour. Bowden  knocking off the runs in 47.1 overs and remain in the promotion places by one point.
