Rain Dampens First Team Result

26 Jun 2016

Bowden 1st Team Vs Finedon Dolben 3rds

The inclement weather scuppers Bowdens chance for victory against Finedon 3rd team.

Captain Karl Pollard won the toss and elected to bat. Just 4 overs into the Bowden innings, the heavens opened and a lengthy spell of rain meant that play would be suspended.

Play eventually resumed after long the delay.

Anthony Paton (53) Dan Broughton (51*) and Charlie Standley (44) the standout contributors to Bowdens total of 212 for 6. Karl Pollard declaring the innings with 6 overs to spare to give the Bowden bowlers a chance of bowling Finedon out for victory.

Opening bowlers Joe Whitworth and Steve Bellamy took wickets early in the innings. However  resistant Finedon batsman proved hard to remove. Despite relentless pressure from Whitworth (4-31) Bowden ran out of overs and Finedon secured the draw on 135 for 6 after 37 overs.

Had the full 50 over allocation been available, maybe Bowden would have been able to take all 10 wickets required for victory.
