Podington Vs Bowden
Bowden's first team travelled to mid table rivals Podington. Captain Karl Pollard won the toss and elected to field.
Openers Joe Whitworth (4-60) and Ben Watts (1-30) restricted Podington in the early overs. However, the middle order batsman rescued Podington. Bowden, despite the promising start enabled Podington to make 196 for 7 in 50 overs.
After the tea break, Anthony Paton (43) and Dan Masic (29*) looked to push Bowden into an encouraging position. Until, Paton was caught out at mid wicket, and whilst the ball was in the air, Masic slipped and twisted his knee and came off the field injured.
Bowden losing two batsman from one ball.
Bowden never recovered from this, a gutsy effort from Sam Gomez (43) gave Bowden a chance of victory. But the combination of good bowling and poor batting gave Podington the advantage.
Bowden had to recall Masic back into bat, to block out the final over to salvage a losing draw.
Bowden 182 for 9 after 50 overs.
