U11s Take Rushton All The Way

15 May 2016

Tense U11 game at Bowden CC goes down to last ball and a narrow victory for visitors Rushton CC.

Rushton were put into bat by Bowden captain Seb Fernandes-Smith.  Some excellent bowling by Bowden  with only 4 wides bowled in their 16 overs. Star of the show was Aidan Batholomew taking two  wickets for only two runs off his three overs. Wickets also came from  Oliver Howland and Joe Pearson  Ethan Rawlings took his first U11 League wicket for Bowden on his debut. This fantastic bowling display limited the visitors to 221 runs.

It seemed like an easy target to get for the home side, but Rushton applied the pressure with their faster bowlers and runs gained by Bowden were cancelled out by wickets taken.

After 12 overs Bowden were on 203 and it seemed like an impossible task to win, but batting pair Joe Pearson and Oliver Howland took to the field. The pair combined well and despite the loss of 2 wickets were on 210 as the final over started. With last ball to go Pearson needed four to tie the match but only a single came which handed the victory to Rushton..

Bowden  were disappointed to lose their perfect record in the league but should be proud of how they performed.
