Match report Bowden suffered a defeat at the hands of a powerful Countesthorpe team.
Missing a few key regulars Bowden's bowlers found it difficult to contain the batsman. Lane was again the pick of the bowlers with Sayles and Shellard also taking wickets and supported by Morris, Digby, Slade (who also took a fine catch) with a good over by Naomi Fraser. A competitive score was made very challenging by conceding too many extras.
The opening pair of Digby and Sayles got off to a brisk start and after 7 overs were ahead of Countesthorpe. Steady bowling resulted in a regular fall of wickets after good starts by Digby, Soysa and Shellard. Hannah Sayles and Sophie Gomez batted well at the end to ensure all 20 overs were used. A special mention must go to Matthew Sayles who batted with aplomb and looked destined for a maiden 50 before tiring and being bowled for, a personal best, 47. Well done Matthew, a very fine innings.
If, and when, Bowden stop giving away extras then the results will be so different.
