Match report Bowden U13s found Illston Abbey to be tough opponents in their first league game of the season.Playing at home Bowden won the toss and elected to field first. The Illston Abbey batting line up proved to be very strong and they accumulated a formidable total of 147 for 3. There were good bowling performances from Thomas Reeve(4-0-27-1), Will Hobbs (4-0-20-1) and Thomas Shellard (4-0-24-0), this was backed up by one piece of magical fielding, a stunning one handed catch at point by the ever alert Will Hobbs. Bowden gave themselves every chance of chasing down the score when they batted. Bowden took every run on offer and consistantly put pressure on the fielders, but unfortunately ran out of wickets on 110 with 2 overs to go. Will Hobbs shone in the batting department with some divine shots to score 25, he was supported by Jake Cartwright (13) and George Thornton (6),but in the end Bowden fell just short of the required total.
