Old Grammarians End First Team Promotion Hopes

14 Sep 2015

After a successful few weeks, Bowden's first team were unable to secure victory to be in contention for promotion. And look to face another season in Division 4.
Travelling to mid table opponents Old Grammarians in Wellingborough,
Captain Sam Freer won the toss and elected to bat. Opener Karl Pollard (67) and middle order batsman Joe Whitworth (38) the main contributors to Bowden's fairly modest total of 179 all out.
After the tea break, Bowden knew that taking early wickets would be vital. The bowlers persevered but an uncharacteristic lacklustre fielding effort, with the addition of sensible batting from Old Grammarians thwarted Bowden's effort. Old Grammarians knocked off the runs for the loss of three wickets. Sam Freer (2-49) and Joe Whitworth (1-52) the wicket takers.
