Second XI Win At Long Buckby

28 Jun 2015

The Saturday Second XI enjoyed a convincing seven wicket win at Long Buckby in Division 9.
The home side won the toss and batted first. Father and son pair, Steve and Jack Bellamy opened the bowling for Bowden and soon got amongst the wickets. Jack claimed two in the first few overs, before Dad, Steve, broke the back of the Buckby innings by claiming 5 for 30. Mick Brammer grabbed another two, as the home side were dismissed for just 85.
Brammer and fellow opening batsman, Alex Frith gave few chances for Long Buckby to get back in the game, as they followed last week's century partnership with a stand of 48, before Frith went for 24. Brammer saw the side home though, being dismissed for 44, with just one run needed for the win.
