The First XI travelled to league rivals Grendon and Prims in search of victory.
Losing the toss proved costly, Grendon elected to bat.
Even with a long rain break the hosts were allowed to bat their full allocation of 50 overs. Joe Whitworth (3-44) was the stand out bowler. Grendon made 211 for the loss of 8 wickets.
With the league rules favouring the side batting first in rain affected matches, Bowden had to chase down the total in 41 overs. Karl Pollard (49) Anthony Paton (38) Tony Roberts (38) and Charlie Standley (26) made a valiant effort. But as the run rate kept creeping up Bowden couldn't quite score quickly enough. Eventually making 176 from 41 for the loss of 8 wickets. Bowden had to settle for a losing draw.
If both teams had the equal amount of overs maybe the outcome would of been somewhat different.
