Bowden travelled to Weldon on an overcast evening and were
put into bat on a green pitch. Against some tight bowling Bowden slumped to
31-3 off 7 overs, but an onslaught by Jack Gray retired not out for 31 (6x4 and
a six) wrestled the advantage away from Weldon. This was then carried on by
Freddie Wilson retired not out 30 (5x4) and Charlie Barkworth 32 retired not
out (3x4). Bowden posted their highest score of the season of 146-3 off their 20
overs.
In reply Weldon reached 20 without loss off 4 overs with
little problems, however a smart run out from Jack Gray, a spectacular full
length diving catch by Charlie Barkworth off the bowling of Dylan Pearson and
Will Colman clean bowling the new Batter with his first ball, gave Bowden 3
wickets in 3 balls and control of the game.
Weldon battled bravely, seeing out the 20 overs ending on
81-8, that man Gray again staying in the action with 3 wickets, backed up by
wickets for Finn Colley and George Williams (well caught by Finn Colman). A win
by 65 runs, a welcome win for the team.
