Joe Whitworth Hits Weldon for 6

25 Apr 2016

The opening Northants Division 4 clash between Bowden and Weldon, resulted in a dynamic 9 wicket victory for hosts Bowden.

New Bowden Skipper Karl Pollard won the toss and elected to insert Weldon into bat.

The visitors looked to score heavily off every delivery. After riding their luck in the opening  overs, their aggressive approach led to their sudden downfall.

Six Weldon wickets fell to Joe Whitworth (6 for 29), who capitalised on the Gung Ho approach from the batsman. Whitworth assisted by Dan Broughton (1-24) and an impressive display from 15 year old Jack Bellamy (3-16).

The only blip from the Bowden fielding effort being the 26 runs gifted in extras.

Weldon all out for 75 from just 14 overs.

Opening batsmen Anthony Paton (31 not out) and Karl Pollard (19) put on 60 runs before Pollard was bowled out by Fraser Glover. An unbeaten Dan Masic (11*) and Paton guided Bowden home after 20.5 overs.
