Bowden Pinks narrowly lose out in Final

10 Sep 2017

Bowden Pinks ladies team narrowly lost by 2 runs to West Haddon & Guilsborough in the Final of the Last Woman Stands Northants League.

After finishing first in the league by a comfortable margin the team were keen to retain the Cup which they won last season.

Fielding first the Pinks did very well in the field restricting West Haddon & Guilsborough to 72 for 4 off their allotted 16 overs.  Elizabeth Page bowled very well taking 3-17 with Collette Wale collecting the other wicket whilst only conceding 8 runs from her 4 overs.

In reply Bowden started well with Victoria Earland scoring a quick 18 with Flora England also hitting 3 boundaries in another quick fire 13.  Wickets however then started to fall and it was left with the final pair of Collette Wale and Gracie Barkworth to hopefully steer the team home, which they nearly did.  Barkworth fell for 8 but Collette Wale carried on as the 'Last Woman' but just failed to score the winning runs being run out off the penultimate ball for 23.

The team look forward at trying to regain the Cup next season but were valiant in defeat this time around.
